Optus publishes its own device guide for the SPACETALK Adventurer 2 (activate, insert SIM, specifications). Spacetalk says a third-party SIM needs an extra fee and app subscription. Source

About 2G: Optus switched off 2G on 1 August 2017 (April 2017 in WA and the NT), and began switching off 3G on 28 October 2024.

About 4G calling: Optus offers 4G calling on compatible phones bought from Optus, and blocks phones that can't call 000 over 4G.
