About PlainPhones
PlainPhones helps you find a basic phone, flip phone or minimalist phone that will actually make calls on your network. It covers the UK, Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Indonesia.
Who runs it
PlainPhones is built and maintained by Terry: a dad, a Canadian and a citizen of the world.

Why
I built the site on the premise that I'm not the only one who is interested in digital minimalism and that there is a growing appetite for conscious use of technology. And I got a Mudita Kompakt because I wanted to set a good example for my kids.
There's more in Why a plain phone? on the home page.
How it's funded
The site currently has no funding. Retailer links are not paid placements, and rankings never depend on who sells the phone.
How we check
Every fact about a phone or a network comes with a source, and fixed rules turn those facts into a verdict. If we can't confirm something, we say so rather than guess. How we check explains the rules, and the 4G calling table has all the verdicts in one place, with the data as a CSV download.
Report a mistake
Network policies change, and we can get things wrong. If you spot a mistake, email terry@plainphones.com. It helps to include the link to the page, what's wrong, and a source if you have one, such as the network's own page or your experience with the phone.
