Does the Maxcom MM43D 4G desk phone work on giffgaff?
Calls and texts work on giffgaff using 2G. They'll stop working when 2G is switched off unless 4G calling gets enabled.
How we worked it out
- 2G calls: The phone supports 2G and giffgaff's 2G network is still on (giffgaff uses O2's network).
- 4G bands: Shares 4G bands with giffgaff: B1, B3, B20, B28.
- 4G calling: giffgaff only enables 4G calling on approved phones, and we haven't confirmed this one.
giffgaff runs on O2's network, so it uses O2's masts and bands.
About 2G: O2 plans to start switching off 2G in summer 2029.
About 4G calling: giffgaff only supports 4G calling on phones on its device list, which (as of late 2024) included no feature phones. Calls fall back to O2's 2G.
